Deleting your user account will remove your ability to log in and use the patient portal service, but it does not delete the medical records themselves. This is because each medical record is part of your medical history, which we are required by law to retain.

As a healthcare provider and HIPAA Covered Entity, we must maintain your medical records to ensure the continuity of your care. This retention requirement is mandated by HIPAA, which stipulates that medical records must be preserved for a specified period, often ranging from 6 to 10 years, depending on state laws and specific healthcare circumstances. These records are essential for future clinical reference, regardless of whether you have an active patient portal account.

If you proceed with deleting your patient portal account, please know that only the account itself will be removed. Your medical records will remain secure and accessible to your healthcare providers for any future medical needs.
